Improving outcomes
The Bunjum Goori Youth Program focuses on supporting Aboriginal students at risk of disengaging with education and learning in years 7,8,9.
Bunjum Goori Youth Program (GYP) provides support to 2 local High Schools (Ballina Coast HS & Alstonville HS) in Ballina LGA.
The aim of the GYP is to enhance educational outcomes, improving attendance, fostering positive engagement for participants and a strong focus promoting social well-being. The program is delivered through Bunjum’s unique Aboriginal Cultural Lens with a commitment to celebrate and strengthen Aboriginal Cultural Identity, embed Culture and connections to Country for Aboriginal Students and to the broader school Community.
Bunjum Goori Youth Team work collaboratively with both schools, Aboriginal Students and their families and broader Community to deliver a strength-based, culturally affirming mentoring program that supports students holistically. This approach addresses school-related concerns in a safe and supportive environment, equipping students with tools and strategies to navigate challenges. The program also provides meaningful opportunities for Cultural connection, participation in activities, and engagement in motivational, career, and educational pathways.
Contact and connect with Bunjum’s dedicated Goori Youth Support Workers, Rani and Amanda, if you would like to hear more on the GY Programs invaluable work and to connect your student at outlined schools to join the GYP and attend the Deadly Learning/Homework Centre and Parental engagement events.
